My Love Affair with a Magnum
Woe is me. Or as a grammar instructor said, "Woe is I". Woe is I! AZfamily TV just pulled out "Magnum P.I.". Daily episodes of "Magnum P.I." are now a thing of the past. Every night, I looked forward to watching "Magnum P.I." on channel 13 at 8PM. Now, this is replaced by "According to Jim" (a sitcom starring Jim Belushi).

I am SAD. I'm serious! Oh, I was so distraught when I switched the TV to channel 13 the other day, and discovered another show running! Meanwhile, my dear husband is laughing at and making fun of me. Hmph. Inggit lang siya -- Tom Selleck is 6'4, ruggedly handsome, very athletic, and charming. "Old!", Joey throws back. Hmph! Well, I've always liked older men.

I really should start drafting that letter I intend to send to Tom Selleck ...

The Animal Kingdom Mourns
Those who know me well, know that I love animals.

Yesterday, September 4, Steve Irwin ("The Crocodile Hunter") was fatally pierced in the chest by a short-tail stingray barb while shooting a documentary off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Ironically, the title of the film he was shooting was called "The Ocean's Deadliest".

Steve was a tireless environmentalist and a passionate conservationist. He was always hyper, always on the go. Popular and loved by many, he was also criticized for controversial actions, like carrying his month-old son on one arm while feeding a crocodile with the other. Oh, I didn't like that, either. This has been compared to Michael Jackson's dangling of his son from a Berlin hotel balcony in 2002.

Steve Irwin was a boyish 44, yet he lived life to the fullest, facing death many times throughout his adventurous journey. He thought he would be done in by a crocodile, but no, it was a stingray. It may be a trite expression, but he died doing what he loved the most, and that was his mission in life, his mission on Earth. He left the way he wanted to be remembered -- a savior of the world's endangered species. The animal world will surely miss him. We all will.
